More boring version: A lot of cars are designed so that the engine and trans shear off their moorings and go under the cab to absorb energy. A lot of FWD cars are also designed to be easy to assemble from in front, with a relatively flimsy front clip. This being a Jagdeo, and having been caught in a way that trashed the front clip with a shock, the engine/transaxle combo wanted to keep going and sheared its moorings going the “wrong” way, IMHO.
